Cinderella Story

We can all agree that Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, Syracuse, West Virginia, Villanova, Georgetown, etc. are all contenders to make a run at the Final Four this season in Indianapolis, but what about some teams that are double digit seeds that could possibly take a notion to get hot and will their way to Indy.

The last, and only second double digit seed to make the Final Four, was George Mason in 2006, the Final Four was also in Indianapolis that season. Today, we'll take a look at a few teams who I think can possibly make a deep run in the tournament.

The first team I want to talk about is UTEP, this is a team that has athleticism that compares to that of a top 4 seeded team, they are physical and have guys at every position who can make plays, not to mention that coach Tony Barbee is a John Calipari disciple. Their first round matchup is one where they will be the most athletic team on the floor, as they take on Butler, it will be interesting to see how this push it, take it to the tin team, will matchup against the grind out, finesse style of Butler. Watch out for the Miners in the West Regional.

Another team that I think could make a run is Missouri, yeah, I know what you're thinking, how could a team from the Big 12 and a squad that was a game away from the Final Four last season, be a cinderalla. Well, probably because they lost a lot of talent from last seasons Elite 8 team, but when you play in a system like Mike Andersons teams do, you do not have to have tremendous players, it will be interesting to see how this team forces the tempo against it's opponent in the tournament.

Those are just a couple teams that I think could possibly make a run to Indy, let's here your possible giant killers in the field of 65.

  1. I agree with these Two teams Utep is going to be very dangerous they are a very good teams with Ex cardnail Derek Charater a big body inside at 6'9 280 and Culpepper outside at the guard they can play any style. But I think Everyone needs to watch out for the louisville Cardnails at a 9 seed they could be one of the toughest teams the Dukies will have to face in the big dance. The cards are playing well and Rciky P can always make a run in the Tournament.

  2. If I had to pick a team seeded 10 or higher to make a run, I guess it would have to be Washington. They started the season in the top 25 and have a fine player (and 1st round draft pick) in Quincy Pondexter...but they underachieved terribly and barely even made the tournamanet.

Sienna would be my next pick.
