Breaking Down the Brackets!

Now that everyone has had time to take a breath, lets look at potential matchups in each region, a cinderella team from each, and my opinion on who will win each. Don't worry, I will also be giving you my national championship pick as well.

MIDWEST: The Kansas Jayhawks come in as the overall number one seed in the 2010 NCAA Tournament, but you wouldn't think that by the looks of their bracket. With 2 seed Ohio State, 3 seed Georgetown, and not to mention last year's national runner-up the Michigan State Spartans; the Jayhawks will have a lot of work to do to get to Indy! This is by far the toughest region, I mean with a team like Tennessee as your 6 seed (After beating both the before mentioned Jayhawks and the number two overall seed: Kentucky Wildcats) it will take 4 hard-fought games for Kansas to get there.

Intriguing, Possible Matchup: Kansas vs Michigan State, This could be a knock-down, drag out in the Sweet 16!

Potential Cinderella: San Diego State, watch out for Steve Fisher and the boys. He is great coach who has been apart of two national runner-up teams at Michigan. (The Fab Five) This team has great athleticism and could be a potential spoiler.

My pick for Indy: Kansas, it may be a hard road but this senior-laiden ball club can get the job done.

WEST: Syracuse walks into this region as kind of a mystery, they come in struggling lately after losing at Freedom Hall against Louisville and then getting beat in the Big East Tournament in the Quarterfinals by Georgetown. The Orangeman better watch out for a second round upset, the Gonzaga Bulldogs have a nice ball-club, who get the ball up and down the court, and shoot the three well. The 2-3 might hinder more than help if this matchup was to happen. You also have a hard-nosed two seed in Kansas State, a grind it out 3 seed in the Pittsburgh Panthers, and my controversial final four pick for this region: 4 seed Vanderbilt Commodores.

Intriguing, Possible Matchup: Syracuse vs Gonzaga, watch out Cuse you could go down quickly!

Potential Cinderella: UTEP, Randy Culpepper can flat out score, and they have good size with Louisville transfer Derrick Caracter. This is a physical team coming off a hard fought loss in the C-USA championship game. Watch out!

My Pick for Indy: Vanderbilt, I know what your thinking he's nuts! But with veterans like A.J Olgivy and a player who can carry a team in Jermaine Beal, this team is geared up for a run in March. There unorthodox style is hard to prepare for and they always play solid defense and rebound. If the Cuse goes down like I think they can, it would set up a matchup with them and the Zags in the SWEET 16 and a winnable game against a couple of teams that struggles offensively from time to time in Kansas St and Pittsburgh.

The other two brackets will be broke down soon!

Until next time, Adios!

  1. I agree on everything except Vandy, there experienced but I don't think they enough talent, and I wouldnt be suprised if the Murray State beat then in the first game, there a solid team who is really athletic.
